About Us Tourism is one of Ireland’s vital industries. Over 250,000 people work in the wider tourism and hospitality industry. Almost 8 million overseas visitors are attracted annually, contributing almost €5 billion to the Irish economy. When revenue from domestic tourism is added, that reaches €6.5 billion. Targets for 2012 envisage the number of overseas visitors increasing to 10 million, with foreign earnings of €6 billion.
ITIC’s case-making is based on a strong research programme, details of which will be found in this website. Our membership consists of almost 30 representative organisations, covering all sectors of Irish tourism – i.e. accommodation, access transport, internal transport, visitor attractions, incoming tour operators, ports and airports.
Membership also includes official bodies such as Failte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Shannon Development and the Regional Tourism Organisations. |
