CIE - Member Profile CIE is Ireland’s national transport company and through a range of subsidiary companies operates Ireland’s rail services, national bus services and Dublin’s commuter services.
Another subsidiary, CIE Tours, is Ireland’s oldest and largest operator of escorted tours, having provided over a million passengers with the highest quality vacations to Ireland and Britain over the past 74 years. The Company has built up an enviable reputation for security and reliability with customers and the travel industry throughout the world.
Massive investment in stations and rolling stock in recent years has seen strong return to rail travel in Ireland. Over the period 1994 to 2004, rail passenger journeys increased by 42% by far the highest increase in Europe.
New bus fleets in city and provincial services, have helped power growth in passenger numbers over recent years. For over 70 years the national bus network has been part of Ireland’s transport infrastructure.
All visitors to Ireland are virtually certain to use a CIE product at some stage of their visit.
