Northern Ireland Tourist Board - Member Profile

The Northern Ireland Tourist Board is the strategic leader for tourism and works in partnership with stakeholders to market Northern Ireland within the island of Ireland and improve the visitor experience. It also identifies where the best prospects exist to deliver world class excellence and develops programmes to assist the tourism industry to reach its potential.

NITB is a statutory, non-departmental public body and is funded by the Northern Ireland Department of Enterprise, Trade and Industry.

NITB has three strategic key aims:

Attracting visitors to Northern Ireland.
Enhancing the Business of tourism in Northern Ireland.
Communicating effectively with its tourism partners.

In pursuit of these aims the NITB has as its principal objectives:

  • Delivering marketing campaigns to highlight the attractiveness of Northern Ireland as a holiday destination.
  • Working with Tourism Ireland Ltd. to ensure that the Northern Ireland message is effectively delivered.
  • Gathering and using market intelligence to define visitor needs.
  • Encouraging the development of tourism products and services to meet market opportunities.
  • Provision of assistance to the industry to enhance its competitiveness.
