Irish tourism has been doing especially well from North America in recent years. When in 2013 visitor numbers had recovered to the peak levels of 5 years earlier, the question was, could this level of growth continue?
It has – and then some. The current year will set another record for visitor arrivals from North America with strong double-digit growth now assured for 2014. So where do we set the bar for the future?
Key to success from North America, Ireland’s second most important source market, is competitive air access. Aer Lingus has been to the forefront with aggressive and successful expansion of its transatlantic capacity and gateways. And now comes the great news of even further expansion for next year.
ITIC spoke with Declan Kearney, Director of Communications with Aer Lingus, about their recent stellar performance on transatlantic routes and their plans for futher expansion.
