Demand for travel by Irish residents was up in 2014

  • The first 9 months of the year accounts for just over 80% of annual demand for travel.  We know therefore from the CSO release of December 18th, Household Travel Survey Q3 2014, how demand fared.
  • It was good for domestic travel which saw a 3% growth in trips with a 4.4% increase in revenue.
  • Overseas trips were down just 1%, although revenue was up 2%.  Britain and Spain remain by far the most popular destinations for Irish travelers, though visits to both destinations were slightly down. Click here to find a short analysis of where the Irish traveled last year.
