US MARKET REVIEW SETS AMBITIOUS TARGETS

  • The United States is Ireland’s second largest source market, producing about 14% of our visitor numbers, but over 20% of our tourism revenue.
  • It was the first market to show decline following the economic implosion which started in 2008, but it was also the first market to show meaningful recovery as the US economy clawed its way back to growth.  In fact , the current year is likely to come very close to reaching the record number of US visitors who came to Ireland in 2007.
  • With President Obama now back in the White House for another 4 years, can we kick on and realistically aim to achieve 1 million visitors annually from the US in the coming years?
