- The USA is the world’s second largest source market for international travel. It is also Ireland’s second largest source market with an estimated 850,000 visitors in 2011.
- It was the first major source market to recover following the “great recession” and indications for the current year suggest that it may come close to or even reach the peak levels of 2007.
- To ensure that this recovery is built upon, and that Ireland maximises its full potential from this great market, Tourism Ireland in conjunction with the Market Partnership Group are conducting an in-depth review to identify the key strategic imperatives for delivering accelerated growth over the next 3 to 5 years.
