The Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) attended the Global Summit of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) which took place last week in Seville. The WTTC is the body that represents the travel and tourism private sector globally. The Summit was packed full of insights and knowledge as international tourism arrivals hit a new record of 1.4 billion last year.
Keynote speaker at the WTTC summit was no less than Barack Obama, former President of the USA, who discussed his view on the travel and tourism sector and its importance to cultural awareness and the global economy.
At the summit ITIC caught up with WTTC’s Executive Vice President Helen Marano, who was a long-time advisor to Obama, and she talks candidly about the opportunities and challenges facing global travel as well as her views on Irish tourism’s strengths.
