Self-Catering: a tradition in Irish tourism with ambitious plans for the future

The Irish Self Catering Federation has 135 members representing nearly 5,000 properties across the country.

ITIC recently met with their new Chairperson, Jacinta Doolan, to talk about the sector and its opportunities and challenges. Jacinta discusses the potential of self-catering to thrive in the tourism years ahead with new distribution channels and a growing share of the valuable North American market. She also expresses frustration about Government’s new short-term letting rules and argues that self-catering members, bona fide tourism businesses many of which have operated for decades, should be exempt from the regulations.
