Golf tourism and its importance to Ireland: interview with Barry Maye of the IGTOA
Golf is big business for Irish tourism. Estimated at being worth €500m per annum, golf tourists stay longer and spend considerably more than the average visitor.
The Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) caught up with Barry Maye, CEO of Ireland Golf Tour Operator Association, to hear about the regional spread of golf tourism, the importance of market diversification, and the lasting legacy on offer from events such as The Open and Ryder Cup.
