2025 proved a mixed year for Ireland's tourism and hospitality industry. Business leaders welcomed Government's renewed commitment to tourism and demand from the key North American market proved strong. However other markets were softer and costs of business continued to rise thereby squeezing profit margins.
In this year-end bulletin, the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) project that the sector will be worth nearly €9 billion to the national economy in 2025 when accounting for overseas visits and domestic tourism. Tourism industry leaders remain cautiously optimistic for the year ahead.

Industry leaders call for the restoration of 9% VAT rate for food services sector and increased spending on tourism in a budget submission that focuses for competitiveness, connectivity and investment.
Tourism – Ireland's largest indigenous industry

Behind the Data: A dive into annual Irish tourism statistics

In February the CSO published inbound tourism statistics for 2024.
This is the first time, due to methodological changes, that there is a direct annual comparison with the previous year.
The Irish Tourism Industry Confederation have studied the data and this bulletin outlines some of the key findings and interpretations.
